Shot for Week 42 of my "52 of Twenty Eleven" flickr group given the theme "Words".Patty, one of my camera club friends knew I was looking for "words" today, and she was kind enough to show me this spot. The words "Tough Times Don't Last, Tough People Do" are poignant on the wall of this abandoned firestation in Highland Park (a city in the metropolitan Detroit area). Detroit continues to struggle through very tough times and places like this, where tough and brave men once worked and lived to protect the people of the city, are now abandoned and utterly destroyed.I hope the person that wrote these words is right, because it would mean there is hope for better times for our city. This is a fairly little flower that was tucked alongside a lilly that I was shooting for this week's assignment. After shooting the lilly, I worked around the arrangement looking for other interesting shots. I really like the colors, pattern and details.Press "L" to check it out on black. Let me know what you think...

Submitted for Week #52 of my "52 in 2013" flickr group given the theme of "My Own Favorite Shot".This is an Australian Spotted Jellyfish. I captured the image at the California Academy of Science during our family vacation in SanFrancisco this year. There were many in the tank, and they were no bigger than 4 inches in length. I pressed my lens to the glass and tracked this guy until there were no other jellies in the scene. I think they are beautiful creatures, and it turned out to be one of my favorite images of the year.Press "L" and check it out on a black background to see the color really pop...
